Meals delivered with care
We have been delivering to customers who are elderly or vulnerable for many years, and we know that just delivering food to the customer's door isn’t enough. Care lies at the heart of our service and we take each customer’s personal needs into account.
Because we understand that having visitors at the door can be unsettling for some older people living alone, we try to make sure that we deliver to regular customers at the same time each week, and that they’ll always see the same driver. Our drivers will:
- Put food away for the customer, if they ask, accept payment for the food order and pass their next order form onto the local branch
- Watch out for any signs of deteriorating health, so we can get in touch with any listed contacts, or the emergency services, if necessary
- Become a friendly face that customers know and trust
Lots of our customers ask us to provide a little extra support, such as a weekly reminder call or help completing the order form - and we are happy to help however we can.
And to keep our service affordable, delivery only costs £1, and is free for all orders of £30 or more.
Drop and Go
We try our best to deliver at a time that’s convenient for our customers. But if they can’t be in for their usual delivery slot, our Drop & Go service means we can drop off their meals in an Oakhouse Foods cool box that will keep their food frozen for a few hours.
Once a customer has let us know they can't be in for their regular delivery, we can simply arrange for a Drop & Go box to be delivered at no extra cost. And to make life easy we'll collect it next time we deliver. Customers can also arrange for us to drop off their food order with a friend, neighbour or relative, if they would prefer. It's all part of our local, caring service.
We take care to only recommend our Drop & Go service to customers once we are happy that it meets their support needs. If we have any concerns about whether the cool box is a suitable option for an indivudual customer or if food is not being stored safely we would always discuss those with a carer or recommend alternatives to the customer as appropriate.
