Safeguarding

A reliable, caring service

Many people who use our ready meals service live alone, and can feel vulnerable or anxious about opening the door to strangers. To reassure them, we only use liveried vans to make our deliveries, and our local drivers wear easily recognisable uniforms and name badges, so customers will always know who they are. We also try to make sure our customers see the same driver each time they order, so they’ll soon become a familiar face. Read more about our drivers.

Extra peace of mind

We recognise that our service can be a lifeline for some, and we take this responsibility seriously. Some of our customers may have specific health needs, and we try our best to make sure everyone who assists them – from the person who takes their food order to the delivery driver – is aware of this.

If appropriate, we can set up extra levels of support. This could include agreeing to call the customer on a regular day to ask if they’d like to order any ready meals, and arranging for the driver to let themselves in using a secure keysafe, to help with deliveries.

Emergency support

Our drivers can often be among a customer’s most regular visitors, so they’re well placed to look out for warning signs (for example marked changes in appearance or food being left unused) and let any listed contacts know. In the past, our drivers have called out the emergency services, for instance, if they’ve found a customer collapsed at home.
